The objective of the Association is to:
A. Promote, sponsor, and support health, civic, and social measures conducive to the welfare of the citizens of Jefferson County.
B. Promote, sponsor, and support measures conducive to the welfare of the members of the Association.
This Association was Incorporated October 29, 1993 in Birmingham, Alabama.
The legislative bill for a COLA for retirees passed and became law in 2002. Thanks to everyone who was instrumental in "helping" this bill to pass. Your efforts were much appreciated. Also thanks to Dr. Fleenor, Health Officer for the Jefferson County Department of Health, and the Board of Health for agreeing to fund the raise for Health Department Retirees.
Old Jefferson County Department of Health Building
1947-1979This is the old Public Health Building where all our current Retirees began their careers. It was located on 8th Avenue South between 20th and 19th Streets. It was demolished when the current Public Health Building was occupied in 1979. A UAB building is now in its place.
