Humorous Coach Bear Bryant Stories:Laughing with the Bear contains 40 humorous "tales" from the life of Coach Bear Bryant.
Below is a picture of my autographed (by all coaches and players) 315 football. That game represented Bear Bryant becoming the winningest College Football Coach on November 28, 1981 when he broke Amos Alonzo Stagg's old record. The new winningest College Football Coach (as of October 25) is Bobby Bowden, who was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. Congratulations to Coach Bowden.

Expansion Completed - Now Seating 92,238I started a letter to Coach Saban as he was walking off the plane that brought him to Tuscaloosa for the first time. I asked if he would send me an autographed photo when he had time, that I realized he would be very busy. I received it in today's mail (Feb.17, 2007), and Coach, I thank you very much. The Crimson Tide will be starting a new era, and I wish Coach Saban well as he leads us back toward the lofty heights that us old timers are accustomed to. Roll Tide!

Now, let me tell you a little more about the rich tradition at the University of Alabama.
Alabama played its first football game in Birmingham, Alabama on November 11, 1892. It was also the first win and the first shutout. The score was 56-0 and the opponent was Birmingham High School.
Alabama's first bowl game was in the 1926 Rose Bowl against the University of Washington (Alabama won 20-19). It was also the first of twelve National Championships. In fact, Alabama's first four National Championships were won in the Rose Bowl (1926-1927-1931-1935).
Alabama first appeared on TV on October 20, 1951. (Where were you on this date?) The opponent was Tennessee and the game was played in Birmingham, Alabama at Legion Field.
